Day 10: Slea Head Drive and Dingle

We woke up and enjoyed a lovely need to order breakfast by our new B&B hosts Orla and Ronan. The Cill Bhreac House, pronounced Kill V-rack, is larger than the other two B&Bs we stayed in, it’s a family run business with Ronan growing up in the home while his parents were the innkeepers, and now he and his wife Orla and their three young children run it. We’ve counted nearly 7 or 8 rooms and then the other full side of the home is for them- very large!

As odd as this may sound, we began our Sunday with a tour of the Dingle Whiskey Distillery. It was very interesting to hear after having tours of both the Guinness storehouse and Jamison distillery in Dublin. This one was a much smaller establishment, everything is done by man, not machine. The tour was able to take us through the actual distilling process. So much in fact that we had to leave our phones and any devices behind so that we could go and literally stick our head into the huge tanks! Magnetic devices could cause explosions, slightly nerve wracking to say the least!

The rest of our day was spent traveling on the Slea Head Drive loop. Around almost every corner we let out a “Wow!” The photos hardly do it any justice.

We went into town again to see some of the shops that were closed last night. I loved the Dingle Bookshop!

We grabbed a very early bite to eat at John Benny’s, went to the “must have” Murphy’s Ice Cream and now are relaxing in the lounge of our B&B. We need a slow night. Tomorrow’s agenda: traveling to Cork with stops on the way at Killarney National Park for horseback riding and Blarney Castle.
